Port of Egypt Marine has been owned and operated by the Lieblein family since William Lieblein Sr., and his brothers Herb and Herman, first stumbled across the beautiful spot in 1946. As youngsters, Port of Egypt's current President, Elisa Ruroede and her brothers Bill Lieblein (current CEO of POE) and Peter (maintenance), played by the docks and worked at the family business, which they know so well to this day. While other children were playing with dolls and action figures, they were learning about fishing and boating on the east end and helping others enjoy the waters here. Port of Egypt is truly their baby.
Port of Egypt started as a fishing station in 1946. In 1952, marina slips were added and in 1960 the company was offering Grady-White Boats for sale. A major expansion was undertaken in 1969 when the big blue building was constructed and Port of Egypt has been evolving ever since.. Throughout this time, Port of Egypt has earned a reputation for outstanding customer service by annually garnering top customer service and satisfaction awards from such prestigious boat companies as Grady-White and Cobalt. In fact, Port of Egypt continually is one of the top selling dealers in the country and has been the number one on several occasions most recently 2002 and 2003. And, in 1998, the marina hit a milestone with Grady-White by becoming the first and only dealer in the country to ever simultaneously garner the top sales and customer service awards.
Port of Egypt is an authorized dealer of Grady-White and Topaz Boats, a Yamaha Flagship Dealer, and an authorized dealer of Volvo-Penta and MerCruiser engines. Port of Egypt is now offering a new mobile service unit, to provide confident and expert service to its customers throughout the region. POE can now also boast of third-generation family members, Will Lieblein as the general manger, and Corey Lieblein in parts, Yvonne Lieblein in marketing, and Marta Thomas in sales continuing in the family tradition.
